FREE PEOPLE - WEEK 1
Welcome to FREE PEOPLE
Rules aren't known to be famous or well liked. But in a world where Jesus leads us, rules can do more than keep you safe. They can become our allies and an opportunity to love and serve the world around us. Everyone (students, parents, leaders) need to know that the right rule can set you free. It doesn't always feel like freedom when a rule limits something you want, but what you want changes when you know who Jesus is.
In this first week of the series, we talk about Jesus, Jesus' greatest commandment and how the right rules can set you free.
Take some time to read these passages on your own. Think them through, journal about them, pray about them.
What is one way your'e going to be a "doer of the Word" this week by loving God or others better?
THINK ABOUT IT:
these are simple questions to help you continue to think this through. Use these questions in part of your journalling time, your quiet time or prayer time. However you do it, this is NOT homework.
What is one rule you hate to follow... and why?
Are there any rules you're grateful for?
Are you more likely to break rules or follow the rules?
Which rules are you most likely to ignore or break:
- family rules
- school rules
- the law
- God's rules
In your own words, how would you explain what Jesus taught about God's law?
What's one way God's "law of love" can set someone free?
Think of a teaching from the Bible that is difficult for you to follow. How can obeying God in that area help you love God and others better?
